These five race days will offer a unique opportunity to showcase Greece’s breathtaking landscapes while promoting the sport of cycling to a global audience.

A World-Class Lineup with Tour de France and Giro d’Italia Stars

This year’s edition features 20 teams, including 18 professional teams (two of which are World Tour teams), and two national teams representing Greece and Cyprus.

Among the standout athletes set to compete are:

  • Dylan Groenewegen (Jayco AlUla, Netherlands) – 74 career victories, including six stage wins in the Tour de France.
  • Diego Ulissi (XDS Astana, Italy) – 20 years of cycling experience, with eight Giro d’Italia stage victories.

Global Media Coverage and Regional Support

The Tour of Hellas 2025 will be broadcast live on Greek national television (ERT) and covered by regional networks Ionian TV and Star Central Greece. Additionally, the event will reach over 174 countries, further solidifying its status as an international cycling event.

Speaking at the official presentation, Greek Deputy Minister of Sports Giannis Vroutsis emphasized the race’s significance:

“This is a major sports event that was revived in 2022 and continues to grow each year. It not only promotes Greece’s stunning landscapes but also highlights the country’s ability to host world-class sporting events. Our goal is to inspire more people to engage in sports and recognize cycling as a sustainable mode of transportation.”

Deputy Minister of Transport Vasilis Oikonomou echoed these sentiments, stressing the race’s role in promoting sustainable mobility:

“We are working towards an integrated cycling infrastructure, safer roads, and fostering a cycling culture. The DEI Tour of Hellas is not just a race; it is a chance to showcase Greece as a cycling-friendly destination.”

DEI: Title Sponsor for the Fourth Consecutive Year

As the title sponsor for the fourth consecutive year, DEI (Public Power Corporation of Greece) continues to support the Tour of Hellas, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and clean mobility. Through its “Power Up The Race” initiative, DEI will engage spectators along the route with interactive fan zones and educational activities about the benefits of cycling.

Katerina Chrysopoulou, Senior Brand & Marketing Communications Director of DEI, expressed her enthusiasm:

“We are proud to support an event that grows each year and cements Greece’s place on the international cycling map. As a company leading the country’s energy transformation, we invest in initiatives that promote sustainable development and green mobility.”

Legends of Greek Cycling Take the Stage

One of the highlights of the event was the appearance of Kanelos Kanellopoulos, the first Greek winner of the Tour of Hellas and Guinness World Record holder for his 1988 human-powered flight from Crete to Santorini (119 km in 3 hours and 54 minutes). Together with Nikolas Papangelis, Greece’s 4th place Paralympian in Paris, they analyzed this year’s race routes.

Athens Mayor and Greek Olympic Committee Emphasize the Event’s Significance

Athens Mayor Haris Doukas described the race as a top-tier sporting event:

“On April 6, Athens will witness a spectacular finish at Syntagma Square. Events like these are essential in promoting cycling as part of everyday life. In a rapidly changing world, cycling plays a crucial role in transitioning to a more sustainable future.”

The President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Isidoros Kouvelos, praised the race’s contribution to sports and tourism:

“This event introduces young people to cycling and Olympic values such as fair play and respect. Additionally, it strengthens Greece’s sports tourism, benefiting both the economy and the environment.”
