Thessaloniki: 151 brand new OASTH buses will be in service by March

In total, Thessaloniki's fleet will be boosted by 41 new buses, reaching a total of 151 new vehicles as part of the ongoing modernization effort

Newsroom March 10 05:00

By the end of March, Thessaloniki’s public transport system will see a significant boost with 41 new buses, increasing the total number of new vehicles in operation to 151. This initiative is part of a broader effort to fully renew the OASTH bus fleet by 2027, as pledged by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Vassilis Oikonomou.

During a recent visit to the OASTH depot in Foinikas, Oikonomou inspected 26 brand-new, ten-meter diesel buses scheduled to enter service by the end of March. He emphasized that the gradual renewal of the fleet is significantly improving the daily lives of citizens by offering more comfortable, modern, and environmentally friendly transport options. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport remains committed to accelerating the modernization of public transport, adhering to schedules, and ensuring an overall upgrade of Thessaloniki’s transportation network.

In addition to these 26 new buses, 15 new 12-meter thermal buses have also recently entered circulation. With these additions, 50% of the city’s daily operating fleet now consists of new vehicles, enhancing public transportation conditions for residents.
