He stabbed her at least 40 times with four knives: What the forensic examination showed for the murder of the 44-year-old woman in Thessaloniki

The blows inflicted by the 53-year-old man on his wife, both in the neck and face and in the hands and abdomen, were so violent that one of the knives was bent - The couple's daughters are unable to testify

Newsroom March 13 06:21

The results of the forensic examination on the body of the 44-year-old woman who was killed with multiple stab wounds by her 53-year-old husband, Wednesday afternoon, inside their home in Sindos Thessaloniki, before the assailant jumped into the void from the balcony of the house and ended his life.

According to reports, the unfortunate woman appears to have been stabbed over 40 times in various parts of her body, while the attacker allegedly used four different knives to take her life. The knives bore traces of blood on them and were seized by police officers.

The blows he inflicted on his wife, both to the neck and face and to the hands and abdomen, were so violent that one knife was bent.

According to reports, the funeral of the woman will take place in the coming days, possibly tomorrow in Albania, where she was originally from, while the 53-year-old’s funeral will also take place in Albania in the next few days.

Meanwhile, the family’s two daughters, aged 16 and 21, who lost their parents overnight, remain in a state of shock and reportedly were unable to testify to police.

They were not concerned about domestic violence

For now, it has not emerged that the couple have previously been engaged by authorities for domestic violence or other offences, and those who knew them speak of two people who had never given rights. Significantly, no voices were heard on Wednesday afternoon when the crime took place either.

Meanwhile, photos posted by the perpetrator and suicide victim on an account he maintained on social media captured family moments, from trips with his wife and their family and time spent with friends. These images were posted in 2020, when nothing foreshadowed the atrocious crime the 53-year-old would commit.

Talking to protothema.gr, a close friend and colleague of the unfortunate woman said she could not believe what happened, as every morning she went to work with the victim and could not imagine the evil that would happen. “He was an extraordinary person. She was quiet and only looked after her children,” she said, stressing that she was in shock at the tragic news.

“She was telling me she was having some problems with her husband, but she didn’t give me any details. She was always with a smile and that’s how she dealt with everything, without complaining, despite the difficulties she was going through.”

The victim’s friend also said that the few times she had seen the perpetrator and suicide victim, he was well behaved in front of her and did not talk much. “I couldn’t know what his soul was hiding,” she pointed out meaningfully.

At the time of the killing, the family’s two children, aged 16 and 21, were away from the apartment while the minor was at school.

According to the 44-year-old’s brother, who, once he was informed, went to the apartment where the murder took place, the couple did not argue and had not given rights.

“They were quiet people”

At the same time, neighbors of the family say they hadn’t heard any fights in the past, nor today when the crime took place. A neighbor of the family said “they were quiet people” and “I didn’t hear a single voice once.”

“We’re in the apartment next door and we never heard any yelling or trouble, nothing. They went about their business, they were a family and they had children. We could see them on the balcony. I fell from the clouds. I left in the morning and I didn’t hear anything,” he said.

“They were new tenants and the girl had asked us about a job. We told her to go to a puff pastry factory. They hired her and she brought us cheese pies,” he added.

“Do I know what’s going on next door? They weren’t given the slightest right. I never heard them argue. They had no financial problems, they were both working,” said a witness who lives in the apartment building and claimed that “the picture of them was a family.”
