The representative of “Blue Homeland” calls for the revocation of Archbishop Elpidophoros’ Turkish passport and a ban on his entry into the country

Erol Kara described the statements made by the Archbishop of America during the celebration of Greek Independence Day at the White House as anti-Turkish rhetoric: "He harbors hatred against our country and dreams of a new Byzantine Empire"

The representative of Turkey’s expansionist “Blue Homeland” strategy, journalist and author Erol Kara, has called for the revocation of Archbishop Elpidophoros’ Turkish passport and a ban on his entry into Turkey, where he is a citizen.

Kara condemned the Archbishop’s remarks during Greek Independence Day celebrations at the White House, attended by U.S. President Donald Trump last Tuesday, labeling them as hostile toward Turkey.

He also expressed strong dissatisfaction with Archbishop Elpidophoros’ repeated use of the term “Ecumenical” when referring to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, insisting that he should only be called the “Patriarch of the Rums” (Greek Orthodox Christians of Turkey).

Kara was further outraged that the Archbishop referred to Istanbul as “Constantinople” in front of President Trump instead of using the official Turkish name.

Additionally, he accused Elpidophoros of holding animosity toward Turkey and aspiring for a revival of the Byzantine Empire, citing his frequent references to national issues, particularly the Cyprus dispute.

Finally, Kara urged supporters of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, as well as Turkish conservatives and nationalists, to file legal complaints against Elpidophoros, whom he claimed is under close surveillance. He called on prosecutors to take action against the Archbishop for allegedly acting against the Turkish Republic.

He also mentioned that retired Rear Admiral Cihat Yaycı, the architect of the “Blue Homeland” doctrine, who advocates for the expulsion of the Ecumenical Patriarchate from Istanbul and considers the Archbishop of America a serious threat to the Turkish state, will oversee the legal battle against him.
