According to Politico, U.S. President Donald Trump has privately told close associates that Elon Musk will soon step down from his position in the U.S. government.

Musk is expected to resign in the coming weeks as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), which was created to reduce government spending drastically.

Despite being pleased with Musk’s work, Trump and Musk have reportedly agreed that it is time for Musk to return to his business ventures, assuming a supportive role instead.

Sources close to Trump, speaking anonymously, suggest that Tesla’s declining sales have motivated Musk to focus on revitalizing the company.
