Guinness World Record for the largest Fraisier cake in Paris – See photo

The initiative belongs to Maison Heloise, a famous pastry shop in Arzendeille

Newsroom April 23 10:16

About 350 kilos of strawberries, 150 kilos of sugar, 415 kilos of pastry cream, 4,000 eggs: a pastry shop near Paris has earned a place in the book of Guinness record for the largest cake Fraisier (Fraisier – traditional French glaze) in the world, which was certified to be 121.88 metres long.

As a result, France reclaimed the Guinness World Record for the longest Fraisier cake, which had been held by Italy since 2019 with a 100.48-metre-long cake.

The initiative belongs to Maison Heloise, a famous patisserie in Argendayeuil, a northern suburb of Paris. The award-winning confection was spread out on a chain of tables at the Argentaille ice rink for residents to admire.

The idea was born in the mind of pastry chef Youssef El Gatou, who admits he was fascinated by Guinness World Records as a child. He mobilized more than 20 confectioners from different shops. The cake, weighing a total of 1.2 tons, took a week of work to make. As for its set-up, the organizers worked through the night and much of the day.

In order to be approved by the Guinness World Records committee, the Fraisier cake had to be at least 8 cm wide and at least 8 cm high, and it had to be a single cake, not in pieces.

After the record was confirmed, the French national anthem was played in a celebratory atmosphere. “It is a quintessentially French confection,” said Mayor Georges Mothron, adding that the record is not just about “a confectionery achievement” but is dedicated to the beautiful regions of France.

The residents of Arzendeille left the rink with a piece of the giant dessert. “I knew about the biggest couscous in the world, the biggest paella in the world, but I had never seen such a sweet before,” said a mother who visited the venue with her children.
