Unthinkable incident in Poros: Group of youths throws firecrackers at 85-year-old woman – “This isn’t the first time,” says her son

The son of the 85-year-old refers to it as "a ghetto in the heart of Poros" – Watch video

Newsroom April 24 08:23

A shocking incident occurred in Poros shortly after Easter, when a group of young individuals threw firecrackers at the feet of an 85-year-old woman.

According to a Facebook post by her son, this was not the first time. He claims that last year, while his mother was watering her flowers, the same group (as he states) pulled the hose, causing her to fall. Since then, she has suffered from serious mobility issues.

In a video, the group of youths can be seen in the Poros neighborhood, specifically in a playground. As the elderly woman walks by, two minors light and throw firecrackers at her feet.

Her son describes the area as “a ghetto in the heart of Poros,” populated by “innocent minors doing wheelies and revving motorcycles in the middle of the road.”

Here’s part of his detailed post:

“No, this isn’t Exarchia. It’s the ‘playground’ in the Poros settlement at 10:30 p.m.
A daily situation for several years now, which has become unbearable.
‘Little kids’ standing over six feet tall have found their paradise, messing around by launching firecrackers at the feet of my 85-year-old mother. They even throw firecrackers inside my house, which also happens to be my business, vandalizing it.
The same ‘innocent’ kids who last year pulled the hose while my mother was watering her flowers, causing her to fall and now suffer from serious mobility issues.
The same kids who speak in a way that would even make Takis Tsoukalas blush. ‘Well-raised children’ who leave behind garbage, alcohol bottles, and dead cats. Innocent minors racing, popping wheelies, and revving in the middle of the street on motorbikes.
Parents who, when confronted, reply: ‘My child would never do that.’
A ghetto in the heart of Poros.

And now I come to the essence of the matter. Those who know me must be wondering why I haven’t gone to jail yet.
So I ask: Who will be responsible if something worse happens to my 85-year-old mother?
Who will be responsible for the destruction of my property and my business?
If these things happened outside the homes of those in charge, would they tolerate them?
And finally, who protects me personally if, at some point (which is only a matter of time), I lose control…?”

The post has sparked strong reactions online, shedding light on a troubling situation in the community.
