Georgiadis–Polakis Clash in Parliament: “Go stand trial like a man” – “You’re talking crap…”

The new conflict is out of bounds - "For 9 years you slandered, you lied" said the Minister of Health who accused the MP of SYRIZA that he does not have the courage to face the lawsuits in court

Newsroom April 29 12:59

A heated and explosive exchange erupted once again between Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis and SYRIZA MP Pavlos Polakis, continuing their long-standing political feud.

Tensions soared during a Social Affairs Committee session, where Polakis accused Georgiadis’ associates of corruption, promising to reveal more in a full parliamentary session:
“I’ve got two more revelations for the Plenary – one about an associate of yours. You gifted him a sugar factory in Plati, and he looted it.”

Georgiadis hit back forcefully, challenging Polakis to face court:
“People with integrity and courage don’t hide when disgraced – they face the consequences. Nine years ago, you accused us of illegal hires at KEELPNO and had four people fired. Now I will expose your global disgrace. For nine years you lied, defamed people, and acted with arrogance – but the Greek justice system said you were lying.”

He then challenged Polakis directly:
“Tomorrow is the trial for defamation. Will you have the guts to show up in court or will you hide again and need a different kind of pants? I hope, as a Cretan, you’ll show up like a man and stand trial.”

Polakis interrupted, saying:
“You’re talking crap…”

Georgiadis responded by appealing to the committee chair:
“Mr. President, you heard that. He said I’m talking crap. This is how the SYRIZA MP behaves.”

Polakis claimed he would go to court, “as the prosecutor has recommended a trial,” but then mocked Georgiadis:
“Georgiadis is talking about courage, but he once insulted Karamanlis and Samaras and then went crawling back to them.”

The argument escalated further with accusations over the sugar factory deal. Georgiadis said:
“There was a formal process, and only one investor came forward. The factories belonged to Piraeus Bank. Nothing was gifted.”

Polakis challenged:
“Did he sell everything inside the factory? Yes or no?”
Georgiadis: “That’s not my job.”
Polakis: “Oh, it’s not your job?”

Georgiadis then lashed out:
“I’ve humiliated you in every courtroom. You’re the disgrace of Crete. I make a fool of you every time.”

Polakis retorted:
“Careful, you might have a heart attack. I won’t respond to your insults. You’re full of personal attacks because you have no answers.”

Georgiadis concluded:
“The investor SYRIZA left behind was arrested for murder. That’s who Polakis supports, and he dares to talk!”

Polakis, repeating himself, said again:
“You’re going to have a heart attack.”

Georgiadis: “Will you go face the court like a man, Polakis? You’ve got the nerve to speak? You will pay.”
