Panhellenic Examinations 2025: The first estimates for scores and results

In the last days of June the announcement of the scores is expected - Spanish is the first language for the Special Subjects examinations

Newsroom June 8 08:27

With the general education and orientation exams complete, high school candidates in this year’s panelladic exams are awaiting the announcement of scores, which is expected to take place in late June. Along with the scores, additional statistics are expected to become known, which will allow for a very accurate estimate of this year’s admission bases.

In particular, the number of candidates who participated in the Panhellenic Examinations 2025, as well as their distribution in the scientific fields, are two key pieces still missing from the puzzle.

“The general feeling we have is that for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Scientific Fields, no particular fluctuations are expected in the average performance of the candidates, which are the ones that determine the threshold of the Minimum Admission Base,” Giorgos Hadjitegas, an educator and analyst, told APE-MPA.

The reason, he explained, is that in general, candidates are faced with “repetitive subjects of similar difficulty.”

More specifically, the assessment made by Hatzitegas for the 1st Scientific Field, Humanities Studies, is that “the average performance of candidates will not show any particular variation, and therefore neither will the EBE threshold”, which implies that the admission bases in the departments of the field will not have any particular fluctuations in turn.

Regarding the 2nd and 3rd Scientific Field, Science and Health Studies, respectively, Hatzitegas observed that “over time, the highest average performance is observed there, while candidates have to face the most difficult subjects (i.e., Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics).”

He stressed that these two fields are also where “the greatest injustices” are observed due to the implementation of the EBE, as he pointed out that “a student who scores 10 out of 20 in the subjects has a very high chance of being left out of the HEI, but his score does not mean that he did not work hard or that he was indifferent or that he is not able to complete the studies of a part of the field”. At the same time, he noted, there are vacancies in departments even in the central universities.

As for the 4th Scientific Field, Studies in Economics and Information Technology, the performance seems to be better than last year. “The better performance that is evident, along with the increase in the number of children competing in this field, indicates that a rise in the pass marks in the 4th Field sections is likely.

In addition, Mr. Hadjitegas estimated that about 1/3 of the candidates from GELs and 55% of the candidates from EPALs will be left out of TEI, due to the implementation of the Minimum Admission Base.

By the end of June, the results

The announcement of the scores, which will probably be accompanied by the official statistics of the 2025 Panhellenic Examinations, is expected to be made in the last days of June.

Subsequently, the process of filling in the Computerized Data Sheets is expected to be completed in the first half of July, so that by the end of July, the admission bases to the Higher Education will have been announced.

Start of examinations for special subjects

The examinations for the Special Courses will begin with the Spanish course, starting next Saturday, June 14, 2025, and will run until Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Similarly, the Health Examinations and Practical Test for candidates (GEL and EPAL) for admission to the Departments of Physical Education and Sports Science (TEFAA) will be held from June 16 to June 27.
