Honorary distinction to the President of the Supreme Court for her contribution to the work of Justice

During the event, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Justice, the report of the work of the Court of Appeal services and the administration was presented

Newsroom July 1 03:42

A formal event was held at the Athens Court of Appeal to present a review of the administrative and operational work of the court. The occasion was marked by the presence of the outgoing President of the Supreme Court, Ioanna Klapa-Christodoulea, who retired just a day earlier upon reaching the statutory age limit, and the President of the Hellenic Red Cross, Antonios Avgerinos.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Justice, the event featured a detailed report outlining the accomplishments of the Court of Appeal’s administration, with a particular emphasis on the resolution of long-standing institutional challenges.

Notably, special mention was given to the reopening of the Court’s medical clinic, now staffed by volunteer emergency responders. This development was made possible through a strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Justice and the Hellenic Red Cross. The initiative also includes comprehensive first aid and emergency preparedness training for court staff, encompassing protocols for earthquakes and fire safety.

Speaking on behalf of the Ministry, Secretary General Pelopas Laskos underscored the government’s focused commitment to the Athens Court of Appeal and the wider judicial complex at the former Evelpidon School.

“I want to stress that the Athens Court of Appeal has been a top priority for the government,” Laskos stated. “Today, every funding request submitted by the Court is evaluated, budgeted, and approved within the same month—even if submitted at the very end.”

He went on to note that during the last judicial year, €3.2 million was allocated to support the Court’s operations, while an additional €992,215 has already been approved for the current year to meet its annual operational needs.

“We are witnessing the emergence of a new, modernized Athens Court of Appeal,” Laskos concluded. “Such progress would not have been possible without the government’s steadfast commitment to a targeted and effective economic policy.”
