Weather: The thermal dome turns towards Greece – Four “hot” days are coming with 43C

When the thermal dome enters the Balkans and when it collapses - What will be the wind gusts in Attica in the coming hours

Newsroom July 4 08:16

A heat wave is set to sweep the country in the coming days, with temperatures climbing as high as 43 degrees, as meteorologists say the “thermal dome” that has been covering central and western Europe is turning towards our country.

Meteorologist Klearchos Marousakis warned of the most difficult period of the heat wave, stressing that from next Monday to Thursday, the mercury in several areas will exceed 40 degrees, with Wednesday and Thursday considered the “hottest” days – locally it is not excluded to reach even 42 to 43 degrees. From the weekend, as he explains in a post, the “thermal dome” will shift towards our country.

In fact, the OPEN meteorologist warns that this heatwave seems to complete its action in an extreme and dangerous way, because on Thursday (10/7) a cold front will descend from the northern Balkans where it will significantly strengthen the northwest winds approaching the storm levels and therefore the attention is focused on the extreme risk of fire and dangerous bursts – dangerous storms to the north.

Maximum temperatures next Tuesday and Wednesday

And according to Thodoris Kolydas, who also talks about a “thermal dome”, the heat in central Europe is shifting further east, with no supply from Africa, which is positive, while “maximum temperatures will peak next Tuesday and Wednesday”, when the fall begins.

Kolydas’ post

“WHEN THE “THERMAL DOME” IS IN THE BALKANS AND WHEN IT BEGINS.
– The warmth of central Europe is shifting further east, with no supply from Africa, which is positive. The overall movement of the gas masses can be seen in the video, where the shift of the heat towards our region is discernible, with clearly modified air masses and with the maximum temperatures occurring next Tuesday and Wednesday .
– However, starting on Wednesday – which will still be a warm day – temperatures will begin to drop from the NW and will be completed on Thursday. For the question of what values we will reach, the answer is from Friday onwards.”.

As for the winds, Thodoris Kolydas says that they will weaken at the weekend to 4 to 5 and locally to 6 Beaufort and on Monday and Tuesday will blow with moderate intensity.

Kallianos: 4-5 day heat wave

According to Yannis Kallianos, until Saturday, the temperature will remain high, ranging between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius. From Sunday, however, a new – and more intense – heatwave will begin, expected to last four to five days, reaching as late as Wednesday or Thursday.

The heatwave is expected to last four to five days, reaching as late as Wednesday or Thursday.

Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on how long the heatwave lasts, is predicted to be the hottest day, with temperatures reaching 41-42°C and even 43°C locally, making it the hottest period of 2025 so far.
