Red Sea: Three dead in Houthi attack on Greek-owned ship “Eternity C”

Two injured, including an amputated Russian – Greek security officer among those on board

Newsroom July 8 01:12

A new Houthi attack in the Red Sea has caused shock, this time targeting the Greek-owned vessel Eternity C. According to the latest information, at least three people have lost their lives. These were crew members trapped in the engine room, while two others were injured — one of whom is a Russian who suffered an amputation.

The vessel, which was sailing approximately 50 nautical miles off the coast of Hodeidah, Yemen, was attacked with four RPG rockets and two drones. The intensity of the assault immobilized the ship and left the crew in a state of panic. Both the bridge and the engine room were completely destroyed by the Houthi strikes.

Among those on board is a Greek national who, according to initial reports, was not part of the crew but served as a private security officer along with two Indians. The ship was surrounded by Houthi vessels that circled it continuously. The vessel is currently adrift.

Local authorities and international naval forces were immediately notified, and rescue operations are underway. The incident underscores the escalating threat to maritime navigation in the region amid growing tensions in the Red Sea.

More information is expected in the coming hours as eyewitness accounts are gathered and official statements from authorities are released.
