Michael Jordan is currently in Athens for Nike’s “Board of Greatness” event. The global basketball icon hosted a private dinner at a well-known restaurant in Kavouri, drawing some of the biggest names in the NBA.

Among the star-studded guests were Carmelo Anthony, a player-ambassador for the Jordan Brand, along with Luka Dončić (noticeably slimmer), Bam Adebayo, Paolo Banchero, Zion Williamson, and Rui Hachimura, effectively bringing the NBA to Athens.

A total of 100 guests attended the exclusive dinner, but unsurprisingly, Jordan’s commanding presence stole the show.

Jordan’s special speech about Greece

After recently vacationing in the Greek islands, Michael Jordan gave a speech full of praise for the country:

“Greece is the homeland of ancient gods, where legendary heroes were born, and where the idea of greatness first emerged. At a pivotal moment, as the future of Jordan Brand takes shape, we drew inspiration from this unique country.

Just like the path to greatness requires countless hours of perfection, this collection was crafted in Italy by artisans who accept nothing less than perfection in their final product.”

Continuing in his speech, Jordan added:

“I’m thrilled that the Jordan family is here for this special gathering. It’s fitting that we’re in Greece — the birthplace of the Olympic Games and modern sports.

As we begin this event, I believe it’s important for us to come together and set the tone for where the Jordan Brand is heading, while staying committed to our legacy of excellence.

I’ve always felt that spending time together, face to face, helps us strengthen who we are and what the Jordan Brand stands for. We are here to celebrate our wins, learn from our losses, and plan for our future opportunities.
