The family of the Polish professor murdered in Agia Paraskevi asks for custody of the children

The children's mother and her partner have been remanded in custody for the murder of the Berkeley professor - The family filed a request with the prosecution through their lawyers

Newsroom July 31 05:38

The family of Polish professor Przemyslaw Jeziorski has submitted a request to the Athens juvenile prosecutor’s office to take sole custody of his twin children. The request was submitted through the family’s attorneys, Michalis Dimitrakopoulos and Eva Bobolis. The 43-year-old professor was murdered on July 4, in Agia Paraskevi, and the mother of the children and former wife of the victim has been taken into custody as the perpetrator of the crime and the current partner, who was also taken into custody, is the confessed perpetrator of the murder.
The children, all this time, by order of the prosecutor, were accommodated in a children’s hospital.

Specifically, according to a statement by the attorneys on behalf of the murdered Polish professor Michalis Dimitrakopoulos and Eva Bobolis, “the family of the murdered Polish professor Przemyslaw Jeziorski, has filed a petition before the Athens Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office for the award of exclusive custody of the victim’s two minor children to his close relatives and for permission to settle them abroad, to ensure their stability, peace of mind and continuity in a safe family environment.

This application is based on the best interests of the children, which is a fundamental principle of family and international law. The family stresses that the minors have already experienced a tragic and violent event, and it is therefore necessary that they remain close to familiar persons who can offer them love, care, stability and cultural continuity, both on an emotional and practical level.

The family, concerning the institutional procedures and with full confidence in the Greek Justice, awaits its decision to award custody with a view to the protection of the children.

At the same time, she continues to seek justice for the atrocious murder of her loved one and the exemplary punishment of those responsible. This is a heinous, premeditated and organized crime that has caused deep emotion and outrage both in Greece and in the international community.”
