The rise in temperature was felt across the country, with Messinia recording the highest temperature at 42 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, at the Pinios Dam in Ilia, Asteri in Laconia, Sparta and Oceania in Achaia, the mercury reached 41 degrees.

As meteorologist Christina Rigou told MEGA, the picture will be similar tomorrow, when an “almost heat wave” is expected to prevail – and Tuesday is expected to be one of the hottest days of the week.

More specifically, for tomorrow, Tuesday, August 12, the thermometer is forecast to show 42 degrees in Messinia, Aitoloakarnania, Ilia and Laconia. However, on Wednesday a slight drop in temperature is expected – to 40 degrees – and from Thursday there is to be a gradual decline, with December moving to normal levels.

As for the winds, very strong winds are forecast in Attica, the northern Cyclades, Southern Evia and the eastern Aegean, where they are expected to reach 7-8 Beaufort from tomorrow to Saturday – which increases the risk of fire.
