Trump: Possible visit to Israel in September if ceasefire talks go well

US and Israeli officials revealed Trump's intention to travel to Israel, alongside his trip to Britain

Newsroom August 14 10:52

Donald Trump is considering visiting Israel next month, depending on the progress of negotiations with Hamas for a ceasefire and a hostage release agreement, according to the website Ynet, which cites U.S. and Israeli officials.

“The president will visit Britain in September and is likely to make a stop in Israel, but it is not certain and has not been finalized,” a U.S. official told Ynet.

According to the report, the chances of a visit “depend on developments in the talks on a ceasefire and an end to the war in Gaza. Trump would like to come to Israel if the negotiations succeed.”

An Israeli official confirmed the possible trip, telling the media outlet that “indeed, there are rumors of a possible visit by Trump,” but stressing that “there is nothing concrete yet. It’s something that’s still up in the air.”

Trump is scheduled to visit the UK on September 17-19, at the invitation of King Charles.

Mediators have been working in recent days to boost prospects for a ceasefire in Gaza after a recent series of talks ended in deadlock last month.
