Ferraris, Porsches, 30 cars & 11 properties of Popi Semertzidou and her relatives seized by the Anti-Money Laundering Authority

The value of the seized assets exceeds €1.5 million – The report on fraud and money laundering crimes has been submitted to the European Public Prosecutor's Office

Newsroom September 15 12:46

There are rapid developments in the OPEKEPE case regarding subsidies, as the head of the Anti-Money Laundering Authority, former Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court Charalampos Vourliotis, has seized assets belonging to former ND politician Popi Semertzidou, her partner, and family members. These include luxury cars such as Ferraris, Porsches, and 30 other vehicles, as well as 11 properties.

Under Mr. Vourliotis’ order, at least €1.5 million was seized, which, based on the findings, allegedly was not used for the productive and developmental purposes for which it was requested and received.

According to the same sources, the individuals under investigation are said to have received a total of €2.6 million in subsidies between 2019 and 2024.

Of this amount, at least €1.5 million allegedly was not used for the intended purpose, and for this reason, all assets of the two alleged main actors and their relative, as well as the single-member private company (IKE) they established, were seized. This also includes two luxury cars (Ferrari and Porsche) and 30 other vehicles that were rented and commercially exploited. Additionally, the seizure concerns 11 properties, agricultural plots, and land plots.

Furthermore, Mr. Vourliotis prepared a report on the case, which has already been sent to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office regarding the crimes of fraud and money laundering.

He has also requested that the relevant auditing authorities investigate the remaining funds in their possession, which amount to approximately another €1 million, and to examine whether any false or fictitious invoices were used to collect the disputed sums.

Finally, the Anti-Money Laundering Authority is awaiting findings from the tax authorities as it continues its work to fully investigate the case.
