Newsroom September 17 06:41

Today, Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis met with Taher Salem Al Baour, acting Foreign Minister of the Government of National Unity of Libya.

The visit followed Mr. Gerapetritis’ trip to Tripoli on July 15, during which both sides had agreed to deepen bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the two Ministers announced the start of the process for delimiting the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) between Greece and Libya. As part of this process, the first session of the technical committees took place. It was agreed that the next meeting would be held in Tripoli.

Agenda Topics

The agenda also included strengthening cooperation in the field of migration. At this point, the Greek Foreign Minister expressed Greece’s readiness to continue providing training for Libyan Coast Guard personnel.

The two Ministers exchanged views on further enhancing bilateral relations in the areas of economy, energy, transport, and construction.
