A whale was found dead on Thursday morning (25/9) on a beach at Keratokambos south of Heraklion, Crete.

According to cretalive.gr, residents and visitors of Keratokampos were confronted with the tragic sight and contacted the Heraklion Port Authority as well as the Cretaquarium.

The director of the Cretaquarium, Dr. Ioannis Papadakis, stated that the matter does not fall under the aquarium’s jurisdiction. As a result, scientists reached out to the marine mammal rescue organization Arion.
