“First priority is the fight against price increases” – Mitsotakis video on price cuts in supermarkets

Accuracy is the most important problem facing Greek families today, the Prime Minister said, on the occasion of the 8% reductions applied from today to more than 2,000 supermarket codes

Newsroom October 15 03:39

The price cuts on more than 2,000 codes in supermarkets, which started today thanks to an initiative by the Ministry of Development with stores and their suppliers, were discussed in a video posted on social media by Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The prime minister acknowledged that accuracy is the most important problem facing Greek families today, adding that the government is constantly trying to support households’ disposable income.

“I know very well that accuracy is the first problem that every Greek household faces today. That is why today we are announcing a very important initiative. Ministry of Development, supermarket chains, and suppliers have reached an agreement to reduce prices on more than 2,000 products. The original plan was for 1,000 products, but we have managed to extend it. I am well aware that the fight against price gouging is not easy; it is ongoing, but it is the top priority of this Government. Greek citizens should know that we will constantly try to support the disposable income of the Greek household,” Mitsotakis said in his video.
