Jennifer Lawrence on working with Robert Pattinson: “The director asked us to dance naked — should I have said no?”

The Oscar-winning actress spoke about filming the upcoming movie Die My Love

Newsroom October 17 04:29

With humor, Jennifer Lawrence talked about her collaboration with Robert Pattinson in the forthcoming film Die My Love, revealing that director Lynne Ramsay asked them to repeat a dance scene — this time, naked.

The actress described the scene during her interview on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, October 17, saying that before shooting, she and Pattinson “didn’t really know each other,” which changed quickly when Ramsay asked them to take dance lessons together.

“Director Lynne Ramsay challenged us during rehearsals – Robert and I had to take dance lessons. We’re both easily embarrassed and didn’t know each other well, so it was awkward,” she said, laughing.

“On the first day of filming, she asked if we remembered what we did and if we’d do it naked,” she added, surprising the other guests — among them Bruce Springsteen and Tessa Thompson. “Should I have said no? You all look pretty shocked,” Lawrence joked.

Later in the interview, the Oscar-winning actress explained how she got the role of Grace in the psychological drama, which is based on Ariana Harwicz’s novel Die My Love. The book tells the story of a young mother who suffers from postpartum depression and spirals into psychosis.

“Martin Scorsese brought us the project after reading the book, which he found wonderful. He told me I should play the role,” Lawrence said. “When I read it, I struggled to picture it as a movie — but I wasn’t about to correct Marty.”
