Weather: Cloudy skies today with scattered showers in the west – Weekend forecast ahead

Low temperatures were recorded yesterday in the mainland and especially in parts of Macedonia and Epirus, where the mercury dropped below zero

Mild weather conditions are expected over the next few days, with a few showers mainly in western and southern regions. Northerly winds in the Aegean will gradually strengthen heading into Sunday, according to meteorologist Klearchos Marousakis.

Cold temperatures were recorded on Thursday morning, October 30

Low temperatures were observed early Thursday morning (30/10), especially across parts of Macedonia and Epirus, where the mercury dropped below zero.

Today’s weather

Across the country, skies will be partly cloudy, becoming increasingly overcast from the west as the day progresses.
Showers are expected from the afternoon, initially in the Ionian Islands and later in parts of the western mainland, Central Greece, and the Peloponnese.
Scattered thunderstorms may occur in the Ionian Islands and along the western coasts.
During the night and early morning, visibility will be locally limited on the mainland, with areas of fog forming.

Temperatures will range as follows:

  • Western Macedonia: 1–17°C

  • Rest of Macedonia & Thrace: 4–19/21°C

  • Thessaly: 5–20/22°C

  • Epirus: 5–18/20°C

  • Rest of the mainland: 7–20/23°C

  • Ionian Islands: 11–19/20°C

  • Aegean Islands & Crete: 7–20/22°C, reaching up to 24°C in parts of Crete and the Dodecanese.

Winds in the Aegean will blow from variable directions, generally light, while in the Dodecanese they will be northwesterly up to 4 Beaufort.
In the Ionian Sea, winds will be east-southeasterly, reaching 4–5 Beaufort locally.

Attica

In Attica, a few clouds are expected, with limited visibility at night and early morning.
Winds will be light, up to 2–3 Beaufort, and temperatures will range between 15–22°C.

Thessaloniki

In Thessaloniki, partly cloudy skies will prevail, with possible fog early in the morning and at night.
Winds will be light and variable (2–3 Beaufort), and temperatures will range from 12–20°C.

Saturday, November 1

Clouds will increase in the Ionian Sea, Epirus, Central Greece, Peloponnese, Evia, and Crete, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms in the west.
In Macedonia and Thrace, skies will gradually clear after some morning cloudiness.
Elsewhere, thin clouds will occasionally thicken. Visibility will be locally limited in the morning and evening.

Sunday, November 2

Generally, clear weather is expected in Macedonia and Thrace, with a few local clouds.
Elsewhere, skies will be intermittently cloudy, with brief showers in the Ionian, Epirus, Central Greece, Peloponnese, and Crete.
Morning visibility will again be locally limited.

Winds will blow east-southeasterly at 3–5 Beaufort in the west and northerly at the same strength in the east.
Temperatures will remain steady across the country.
