This team consists of four expert child psychologists from Athens and four social workers from the Department of Social Work at the Hellenic Mediterranean University of Crete. They were appointed by the department chair, Associate Professor Maria Papadaki, in collaboration with the university rector, Professor Nikolaos Katsarakis.

The specialists will offer Psychological First Aid, help strengthen the sense of safety within the educational community, and facilitate connections with long-term psychological care services where needed.

The decisions to reopen schools in the two areas were made in coordination with officials from Primary and Secondary Education and the Mayor of Faistos, Grigoris Nikolidakis. Earlier on Tuesday, November 4, a broad meeting was held at the Primary Education offices in Heraklion, Crete, with participation from all education sector leaders (Primary, Secondary, PYSPE, KEDASY).
