Kimberly Guilfoyle reveals Greece was her honeymoon destination during meeting with President Tasoulas

The new US Ambassador to Greece revealed to Konstantinos Tasoulas that in the past she has revisited our country - The Olympics, the islands and Professor Spyridakis

Greece holds a special place in Kimberly Guilfoyle’s heart, who revealed that it was her honeymoon destination during a meeting with Konstantinos Tasoulas, President of the Hellenic Parliament.

Presenting her credentials in Athens, Ms. Guilfoyle made no secret of her enthusiasm for her return to Greece, where she arrived on Saturday. She warmly thanked the press for their hospitality, remarking, “It’s so nice to be back in Athens and Greece.”

During their friendly exchange, President Tasoulas asked whether she had previously visited the country as a tourist. Smiling, Guilfoyle replied:
“Yes, actually, I covered the Olympic Games for ABC and also spent my honeymoon here. I went to Athens, Hydra, Corfu, Mykonos, and Santorini — it was an amazing honeymoon!”

Her lighthearted comment prompted an equally humorous response from President Tasoulas, who quipped:
“The honeymoon was wonderful, the wedding was not.”
To which Ms. Guilfoyle replied with a laugh:
“We’ll work on a new husband.”

The exchange continued in good spirits, with Guilfoyle sharing that her connection to Greece dates back to her university days. “When I was 18, I studied ancient Greco-Roman history at UC Davis with my favorite professor, Spyridakis,” she said, referring to the Greek-American academic.*

The warm and personable meeting highlighted Guilfoyle’s fondness for Greece and its culture, as well as her eagerness to strengthen ties between the two countries.

 

*Note: In a previous version of the article, professor Spyridakis was referred to as “late” which is false as Professor Stylianos Spyridakis is enjoying his retirement in Sacramento, California, after a distinguished 50-year teaching career.
