Locally heavy rains and thunderstorms in the west and north on Monday 10/11
According to the latest forecast data of the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr, on Monday 10/11 rains and thunderstorms are expected in the greater part of the country, except for the southern-southeastern island parts. Cause for this change of weather is the movement of a barometric low from the area of Southern Italy toward Northern Greece during Monday 10/11. More analytically during Monday (10/11) we expect:

  • Rains and local thunderstorms in the Ionian, the mainland and the North Aegean.
  • The rains and thunderstorms locally in parts mainly of Epirus, the Ionian, Western Greece, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace will be intense and will be accompanied by significant rain heights.
  • The thunderstorms locally in the Ionian, in Western Greece, in the Peloponnese, in Central and Eastern Macedonia, in Thrace and possibly temporarily in Eastern Sterea (including Attica) will be strong and it is likely they will be accompanied by hailstorms.
  • According to the categorization of the rainfall episode (Regional Precipitation Index – RPI), which is applied by the METEO unit of the National Observatory of Athens, the expected rainfall episode during Monday 10/11 is classified in Category 4 (Very significant).
