The procedures began at 8 a.m. on Sunday and will conclude at 7 p.m.

Newsroom November 23 08:33

With 122,546 active members, New Democracy is holding its internal party elections today to elect Presidents and Councils of the Regional Electoral Committees (DEEP) and Municipal Local Organizations (DIMTO), as well as the delegates for the party’s upcoming Regular Congress.

It is noteworthy that this number shows an increase compared to the 2021 elections, with the participation of many new members.

Election Process

The procedures began at 8 a.m. on Sunday and will conclude at 7 p.m., with the same time frame applying to online voting as well. During the process, a total of 3,500 members will be elected from more than 7,200 candidates. Members may exercise their voting rights at 1,200 ballot boxes located in 233 points across the country, or through electronic voting.

Demographics and Participation

These elections attract significant interest from members aged 25–54, considered the most dynamic age group, while 42% of the members are women, indicating steady progress toward greater female participation in party activities. After today’s voting concludes, New Democracy aims to strengthen its organization and maintain close contact with its base, ahead of the upcoming Congress that is expected to determine the party’s direction and strategic priorities for the coming years.

Where the Prime Minister will vote

The Prime Minister and President of New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, will vote in the party’s internal elections at 18:00, at the Kato Petralona Cultural Center.

The ND internal elections will elect DEEP/DIMTO presidents as well as 1,000 delegates for the upcoming New Democracy Congress.
