Elena Topalidou on playing opposite Nicolas Cage: ‘He told me I stood out’

Newsroom February 8 09:20

Greek actress and dancer Elena Topalidou spoke about her collaboration with Nicolas Cage in the horror film “The Carpenter’s Son” during an interview on the show “Weekend Live”, which aired on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Topalidou revealed that Cage personally complimented her during their first meeting, saying he noticed her and was impressed. She plays Satan in the film, a role she embraces without fear of backlash. “So what if someone has to play the Devil?” she said.

Regarding the film’s reception, she added, “People might react more to the portrayal of Christ, which the director approaches very differently. The film is called ‘The Carpenter’s Son,’ and I think it will premiere at Cannes.”

About the Film: Nicolas Cage stars as Joseph, with FKA twigs as the Virgin Mary and Noah Jupe (known from A Quiet Place) as young Jesus. Directed by Lofti Nathan, the film offers an unconventional take on Jesus’ childhood.
