The Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office has requested that the company Foodinho, through which the home-delivery platform Glovo.
The final decision will have to be confirmed by the judge in charge of preliminary investigations. According to the prosecution, there are “conditions of exploitation” and a system based on “the economic need of the workers.”
According to the Italian press, for workers who carry home-cooked food, wages “81% lower than collective agreements” are provided for, with amounts that are “certainly not commensurate with the quality and quantity of the work offered”.
Il Sole 24 Ore adds that the judicial control of the company does not stop its activities. The judiciary appoints one or more managers who accompany the owner of the company and provide the necessary authorisations for its management, to prevent the recording of cases of serious exploitation of workers.
