SYRIZA leader Tsipras on campaign trail in Livadeia

The old political system will not prevail he said

Newsroom September 4 09:32

Former Greek PM Alexis Tsipras is continuing his pre-election campaign in an effort to turn the negative tide against him and take change the political agenda away from the immigration crisis and the economy, which are ‘hurting’ him so much . This time he spoke in Livadeia in central Greece on Friday. Tsipras said to a cheering partisan crowd that the people should awaken, revolt and act. The leftist politician attempted to score political points on the tragic death of 3-year old Syrian boy Aylan Kurdi, deflecting attention from his government’s incompetence to handle the huge refugee crisis by blaming Europe saying ‘the Aegean Sea washed up European civilization on the shores of Halicarnassus’. He accused conservative New Democracy of being liable for the crisis, while he also presented his government’s economic success (?) in comparison to that of New Democracy. “We battled to remain standing in our negotiations. But they failed to overthrow us”, he said referring to the negotiators. He accused the other parties as being part of the old political system and that the Greek people will not allow the old to stem the tide in favour of SYRIZA.
