Dylan Tombides, the Greek striker who made it to the Premier League, passed away at age 20 after a battle with testicular cancer

Newsroom April 18 08:05

West Ham mourns the unexpected loss of Dylan Tombides who died of testicular cancer.
The Greek-Australian striker had left the best impressions playing for the London club in 2011 and he was preparing for his debut in the Premier League, when a random drug test revealed a tumor in his genitals.

West Ham – that eventually gave them the opportunity to play wearing its jersey in a match against Wigan for the League Cup in September 2012 – will hold a minute’s silence in memory of the young striker, in the next match against Crystal Palace.
A West Ham statement said:“Dylan was respected by everyone who knew him for his intelligent views on the game and his larger than life character. He was a loving son, amazing brother and well-respected member of the West Ham squad. He will be hugely missed by everyone who had the honour of knowing him”.
