Paris and Brussels islamic terrorists used Athens support network, documents show

Bomb instructions and attack plan found in hideouts in Athens

Newsroom October 16 01:28

The islamic terrorists responsible for the attacks in Paris and Brussels were using a support network in Athens, according to Brussels court files used to try the members of terrorist cell of the Verviers attacks in Belgium. According to the Sunday edition of newspaper “Kathimerini”, the documents showed that authorities had discovered instructions on the materials to use and how to build explosive devices, as well as an assault plan against the Zaventem airport in Brussels. The data was stored on cell phone SIM cards found in two hideouts in Athens. In one of the 10 SIM cards grieved in a hideout located at the Asteropis St, in the central area of Pangrati in Athens, Greek police came across photos in note book depicting handwritten instructions on making explosive material with the code name TATP, which was used in the two attacks against the capitals of France and Belgium in 2015 and 2016, respectively. The same card had photos of notes that resemble an attack plan against the Brussels airport. The members of the “Verviers cell”, as the terrorists came to be known, were using Greece as a transit point between Syria and Brussels, with trails of the terrorists movements traced in Athens, Thessaloniki and Trikala.
