A Ukrainian Su-27 air force fighter with two pilots crashed during a training exercise on Tuesday, a statement by the general staff said. The jet was involved in a joint military exercise with the US military.

A defence ministry spokesman said it was not clear whether there were casualties or why the plane ran into difficulties. It had earlier said one of the two casualties was an American serviceman, but this information was later deleted.
