Stephen King is turning his iconic Mansion into archive & writers’ retreat

The legendary horror writer's mansion in Bangor is in the process to become a non-profit archive and writers' retreat

Newsroom October 25 09:27

The king of horror has requested the city council of Bangor aka his home town to turn the mansion where he spent most of his days into a publicly accessible archive and fans of Stephen King are totally losing it right now, including us.

According to the Rolling Stone, the Bangor City Council has approved their request to archive King’s mansion. The house and the town served as the inspiration for multiple Stephen King novels including the famous IT. Up to five writers will be allowed to stay at the mansion at a time.

“All cash”: Netflix is preparing a strategic move to accelerate its $83 billion deal with Warner Bros.

“The King Family has been wonderful to the City of Bangor over time and have donated literally millions of dollars to various causes in the community,” one of the city councilors revealed.

“Preserving his legacy here in Bangor is important for this community. The house will allow visits by appointment as King reportedly doesn’t “want the house to become a Dollywood or some kind of tourist attraction” as “that would bring all sorts of people to the neighborhood, and they have other neighbors that live there.”
