Athens Stock Exchange rallies at opening with 5.6% rise

Bank shares lead the way

The Athens Stock Exchange rallied in its opening Monday session, recording profits in excess of 5.6% while European markets recorded profits of 2-3%.

The General Index is hovering at 571.56 points with the value of trading reaching 18 million euros.

Bank shares continue to lead the way with National Bank (NBG) rising 10.3% to 1,1255 euros per share. Piraeus Bank had profits of 8.77% trading at 1.24 euros.

Alpha bank had gains of 7.90% at 0.6582 euros, while Eurobank’s share rose by 7.27% to 0.3621 euros. Viochalco also rallied with an increase of 9.80% to 1.68 euros, as did Ote shares with a rise 7.07% to 11.81 euros. OPAP also had profits of 4.46% at 6.79%. PPC’s share rose 6.7% to 2.36 euros per share. Profits of more than 5% for HELEX and Lamda at 3.30 euros and 5.63 euros, respectively.Aegean Airlines traded at 4.58 euros, a 7.5% rise.
