Greece: Omicron mutation – Quarantine is reduced to five days for those who do not have symptoms

The new CDC guidelines

Newsroom December 28 03:45

The reduction of the quarantine for the patients with the Omicron mutation and they show no or very mild symptoms was decided by the officials of the Ministry of Health and experts who participate in a relevant meeting.

In particular, following the new guidelines of the CDC, quarantine will be reduced from ten days currently in force to five, for asymptomatic and those with mild symptoms.

Health professionals will only be able to return with a test, and after quarantine, the patient will wear a mandatory mask everywhere.

This decision comes after the update of the instructions by the CDC, but also the sharp increase of cases in our country, especially among young people.

The new CDC guidelines

“The new variant is spreading rapidly and can affect all aspects of our society”, said Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), referring to the decision.

Reducing quarantine is for those who have no symptoms or for those who do not have a fever and see the rest of the symptoms go away.

What should asymptomatic patients do after 5 days:

– Isolation and mask for at least five days everywhere

– Isolation rules are for people who are infected, for people who are unvaccinated, partially vaccinated, fully vaccinated, or have taken the booster dose.

– The start time of the isolation starts on the day someone is found positive.
