Snow storm “Filippos”: Rapid deterioration tomorrow in Attica, Evia and eastern Sterea

Authorities strongly urge citizens to avoid unnecessary movement in areas of Attica

Heavy snowfall is expected tomorrow, Saturday, March 12, by the National Meteorological Service, in Attica, Evia, and eastern Central Greece. Especially for Attica, the effects are expected to be particularly intense from the first hours of the afternoon.

The Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection is strongly urging citizens to avoid all unnecessary travel and to use anti-skid chains in Attica, Evia, Fthiotida, Viotia, central and eastern Peloponnese.

The recommendation is directed especially to drivers in all the northern and eastern suburbs of Attica, as well as those moving on the main roads leading to northeastern Attica. Relevant checkpoints have been set up by the Traffic Police. More information will be announced by the competent Traffic Directorates.

In addition, it was decided that from early tomorrow morning the entry of heavy vehicles on Attiki Odos, as well as in sections of Nea Odos will be prohibited again. More information will be announced by the relevant Traffic Directorates and the concessionaires of the road network management.
