Stoltenberg: The invasion was a big mistake of Putin, but Russia is not a threat to NATO

He made it clear once again that NATO, despite its military superiority, precludes military intervention in the Ukraine war

Newsroom March 24 11:44

“Russian President Vladimir Putin made a ‘big mistake’ by invading Ukraine, the resistance of which he ‘underestimated'”, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said today, shortly before the Alliance’s emergency meeting in Brussels.

He also stressed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will address the leaders of the Alliance and they will consider the support they will offer to help Ukraine exercise its right to self-defense. NATO will also discuss the importance of “restarting its defenses on its eastern flank”, he added.

For the NATO Secretary General, Russia is not currently a big threat to the Allies. “We are the strongest alliance in the world. As long as we are united, we are safe”. At the same time, he made it clear once again that NATO, despite its military superiority, precludes military intervention in the Ukraine war.
