Great Britain: The new Prime Minister is Rishi Sunak – Penny Mordaunt backed out

He addressed the MPs and in the following hours he will see King Charles

Newsroom October 24 05:00

Rishi Sunak is now officially the new Prime Minister of Great Britain, after Penny Mordaunt backed out from the Tory leadership race and declared her support to Sunak.

There were loud cheers and banging on tables from Conservative MPs in the chamber as Sir Graham Brady announced they had received just one nomination for the party’s new leader. He therefore declared Rishi Sunak to be the next leader of the party and said “he would address Tory MPs soon”.

he will succeed Liz Truss at Number 10 Downing Street and is expected to restore order to a country that has been in political turmoil for the past few years due to the choices of his predecessor. In the next few hours, Mr. Sunak will have a meeting with King Charles III in order to officially take over the mandate to form a government. At the same time he becomes the youngest and first non-white tenant in Downing Street.
