Teacher, 22, had sex with student two weeks after being hired at school in Oklahoma

She faces two counts of second-degree rape that could land her in prison for up to 15 years

A 22-year-old Oklahoma teacher’s assistant has been arrested on charges of having sex with a student just two weeks after starting her job.

Ashley Waffle, a temporary teaching assistant at Granite Public Schools, started her job on Oct. 10 and began exchanging romantic messages with a 16-year-old on Oct. 25 on Snapchat.

According to the reports, school officials notified the police about a rumoured relationship between the student and the teacher.

Court documents revealed Waffle met with the student twice at her apartment before Nov. 9.

Waffle was fired on Nov. 10 and now faces two counts of second-degree rape that could land her in prison for up to 15 years.

She is currently being held in the Greer County Jail. The school has notified the parents by letter as authorities’ investigations continue.
