Mitsotakis: With or without European money, the fence on the Evros river will be finished

"Let's remember who is still against the effort to secure the borders" said on the occasion of the Papadimoulis amendment

Newsroom March 30 12:14

The message that “with or without European money the fence on the Evros will be finished” was sent from Gerakas, where Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was on Thursday morning, a few hours after the support of an amendment by SYRIZA MEP, Dimitris Papadimoulis, to block the European project financing.

The Prime Minister also made a special reference to his visit tomorrow, Friday (31/3) to Evros where, as he said, “I will have the opportunity to sign the extension of the fence project that shields Evros and the country from illegal immigration invasions”.

On the occasion of the amendment promoted by the SYRIZA MEP, Dimitris Papadimoulis, to block the European financing of the project, Kyriakos Mitsotakis said, “I want to remind who are the ones who supported it and who are still against this difficult effort for the country to secure its borders. Just yesterday a SYRIZA MEP supported an amendment asking Europe not to finance the Evros project. There is no need for condemnation, but judgment. With or without European money, the fence on the Evros will be finished.”
