In the presence of Defence Minister Nikos Dendias and his French counterpart Sebastien Lecornu, the official launching ceremony of the first FDI (Belh@rra) frigate of the Greek Navy named “Kimon” took place in Lorian, Brittany.
Today’s launch took place months ahead of the planned date of 2024 showing the rapid progress of the shipbuilding programm
“Kimon” is the first of three brand new Belh@rra frigates that the Navy will receive. In 2024 the ship will be tested and by the end of 2024 early 2025 she is expected to be delivered to the Navy to join the fleet.
