Regional Elections 2023 – ND-backed candidates on the verge of winning most regions

7 regions will be decided in the first round

Newsroom October 8 08:56

Based on the initial official results tabulated for the Greek local elections, the ruling New Democracy appears to be consolidating its hegemony in the country’s scene, as in at least seven regions there is a high likelihood that candidates backed by ND will be victorious, both in the prefectures and the mayorships, while SYRIZA is currently present only in the regions of Attica and Crete in second place.

From the first round, it seems that Nikos Chardalias in Attica, Apostolos Tzitzikostas in Central Macedonia, Alekos Kachrimanis in Epirus, Nektarios Farmakis in Western Greece, Fanis Spanos in Central Greece, Dimitris Ptochos in Peloponnese and Stavros Arnaoutakis, supported by PASOK and ND, in Crete, will be elected.
