Erdogan after the OK for the F-16s: Our fight did not end by throwing the Greeks into the sea of Izmir!

That was way faster than expected...

Newsroom January 28 01:32

Not even 24 hours have passed since the US gave the green light to sell 40 F-16 fighter jets to Turkey and to modernize 79 more and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is back on inflammatory rhetoric against Greece.

Speaking to his party’s candidates for the municipal elections in Izmir, the Turkish President said that “our struggle did not end by throwing the enemy into the sea in Izmir”!

“The regions of Marmara and the Aegean are the regions where the first foundations of our thousand-year history were planted”, added the Turkish President.

As is well known, the tactic followed by the Turkish President in the previous period of refraining from incendiary rhetoric against Greece was a catalyst for Turkey to get the “yes” from Congress for the sale of fighter jets.
