The Palace announced on January 17 that Kate was hospitalized for a scheduled abdominal surgery and would not be able to resume public duties until after Easter. There was no public announcement before the surgery, and the nature of the procedure was not clarified.

Immediately afterward, however, it became known that the surgery was successful. She remained in the hospital to recover for 13 days before returning home, with the prospect of continuing recovery until the Catholic Easter at the end of March.

Kensington Palace attempted on Thursday to put an end to rumors circulating on the Internet regarding Kate’s health, emphasizing once again that she would stay away from all activities until Easter.

“The Princess of Wales has been very clear from the beginning that she would be inactive until after Easter, and Kensington Palace would provide updates only when something significant occurred,” said a spokesperson for the princess.

In recent days, conspiracy theories about the health of Prince William’s wife have resurfaced, as her absence from the public eye has fueled speculation among both fans and critics of the monarchy about the exact nature of her health condition.
