Nikos Androulakis: Positive for passage of the Golden Visa changes – The proposals he submitted

PASOK president says in Parliament that the Greek people's daily life should be improved and the cost of living should be lowered

Newsroom April 2 01:52

Nikos Androulakis, speaking at the plenary session of the House of Representatives, said that PASOK was in a consensual mood to vote for the Finance Ministry’s amendment on golden visas.

However, he proposed the incorporation of two PASOK proposals that set the threshold of 800,000 euros for the purchase of houses on islands even below 3,100 inhabitants and the implementation of the amendment before 1/1/25.

At the same time, he called for a safety valve so that those who buy an apartment through the golden visa right cannot put the house on a short-term lease but are allowed to own the house or lease it for a long period of time.

Nikos Androulakis argued that the ongoing debate was put in the public debate on the initiative of PASOK, as it was raised, he said, as a challenge to inequalities in society.

“We want to set rules,” the PASOK president said, stressing that the aim is to bring down the cost of living and improve the daily life of Greeks.

“This is our compass,” he said, explaining that the amendment must be “a solution and not a patch.”

At the same time, in his speech, the PASOK president also referred to the shocking event of the murder of the 28-year-old woman in front of a police station in Agioi Anargyros.

“I can’t help but start from the shocking crime, a femicide” , Androulakis noted, saying that there is an abject failure in the issue of citizen security while accusing the government that this shows inefficiency.

The PASOK president also launched his arrows against ministers Georgiades and Florides over the Tempi case. He said the Health Minister accused PASOK of interfering with the judiciary “because we exercised a right to go to the Supreme Court”.

And attacking the government, he noted that they dubbed the motion of no-confidence as a product of interference.

Speaking about the Justice Minister, Androulakis attacked him, saying that Florides himself should have said that we should have prosecuted him for the audio document, while instead, the PASOK president said that the judiciary and the investigators have all the recorded material.
