Weather: Dust and high temperatures reaching 30°C by the end of the week – Rains today

Significant increase in temperatures during the week - The forecast till Thursday

Today, local showers are expected across several parts of the country. Wednesday brings more sunshine, with only a few showers in the north and rising temperatures from the west and south. Thursday brings stormy southeast winds in the Ionian Sea, with dust from Africa and mud showers mainly in central and northern regions. Temperatures in the northeast won’t surpass 20-22 degrees Celsius, while the western Peloponnese and Crete may reach 30 degrees. By Friday and the weekend, temperatures could exceed 30 degrees locally in the west, central, and south, with increased concentrations of African dust in the atmosphere.

More specifically, according to ERT meteorologist Anastasia Tyraski, today, Tuesday, there will be intermittent cloudiness, locally increased, with local showers in Macedonia, Thessaly, gradually extending to the Ionian Islands and the rest of  mainland. Isolated thunderstorms may occur in the afternoon, mainly in central and northern mountainous areas. Winds in the Aegean from northern directions at 4 to 5 Beaufort, in the Ionian south-southeast at the same intensity. Temperatures will reach 20 to 22 degrees Celsius and locally in eastern mainland, Crete, and the Dodecanese islands, they will reach 23 to 24 degrees.

The forecast for Attica indicates intermittently increased cloudiness with local showers in the afternoon, accompanied by variable winds at 3 to 4 Beaufort and temperatures up to 23 degrees Celsius. In Thessaloniki, similar conditions are expected with temperatures reaching up to 20 degrees Celsius and south-southeast winds at 4 to 5 Beaufort.

Meteorologist Klearchos Marousakis forecasts a significant rise in temperatures from Friday, with temperatures expected to reach 33-35 degrees Celsius over the weekend. The week is divided into two parts, with unstable weather until Wednesday, followed by decreasing instability and approaching summertime temperatures from Thursday.

The detailed forecast by EMY for Tuesday predicts increased cloudiness with local showers and isolated thunderstorms in Macedonia, Thessaly, and gradually spreading to the rest of the mainland and the Ionian. Winds will vary in direction and intensity, with temperatures ranging from 21 to 25 degrees Celsius.
