Ilia: Acquitted the pediatrician accused of indecency against his few-months-old child

The trial took place at the Mixed Jury Court of Ilia and the acquittal decision was unanimous

Newsroom June 13 03:14

The pediatrician from Patras, accused by his ex-wife of neglecting their infant child, has been acquitted following a unanimous decision at the Mixed Jury Court of Ilia. After nearly 10 months of hearings, during which witnesses, psychiatric opinions, and all evidence were carefully reviewed, the court acquitted the pediatrician of the allegations. This marks the end of a six-year ordeal for the doctor.

Speaking to ilialive.gr, the pediatrician’s defense attorneys expressed their client’s relief and emphasized the orchestrated nature of the accusations by the mother to sever the father’s bond with his child. They underscored the pediatrician’s moral satisfaction and his desire to restore communication with his child, highlighting that the true victim in this situation is the child who has been deprived of a relationship with his father for six years.

“This has been a case of unjust accusations orchestrated by the mother from the outset of the divorce proceedings,” stated Dimitris Dimitroulopoulos, one of the pediatrician’s advocates. “The court’s unanimous decision reaffirms that justice cannot be manipulated in cases where parents misuse legal procedures to harm the other parent, with devastating consequences for the children and families involved.”

Yannis Koutsis, another advocate for the pediatrician, commented, “This case reflects a broader issue in Greek society where false accusations are used as weapons in contentious divorces, damaging the parent-child relationship. The unanimous verdict demonstrates that the Greek judiciary upholds its standards and delivers justice.”

The acquittal not only vindicates the pediatrician but also sends a significant message about the misuse of legal processes in family disputes, aiming to protect the well-being of children caught in such conflicts.
