PASOK: Elections may take place even in July, according to Androulakis

The party's president is stepping back from initial stance advocating strict adherence to the statute which foresees elections in October 2025

Newsroom June 14 03:47

An election for the selection of a leader within PASOK, possibly even in July, appears to be contemplated by Nikos Androulakis, departing from his initial stance for base-wide elections in the fall of 2025. Harilaos Trikoupis now estimates that an extended pre-election period will create an inward focus, aligning with the “clean solutions” approach and aiming to clarify the entire process by the end of June.

This implies that Mr. Androulakis aims to challenge those who raised leadership concerns, and initiate discussions regarding the assessment of the election results, and the failure to achieve the declared goal for the second position. Subsequently, he intends to outline the “roadmap” he proposes at the Central Committee meeting on June 30. “We are here,” state his associates, while PASOK members anticipate all key “players” in the party to lay their cards on the table.

Charis Doukas, Manolis Christodoulakis, and Pavlos Geroulanos are very close to announcing their plans – they are among the individuals rumored to vie for leadership, with potential surprises in the mix. Nikos Androulakis will seek re-election. The directly involved parties are seeking new alliances – even diverse ones – within the internal party arena. It is worth noting that Odysseas Konstantinopoulos, in a letter to the Secretary, had requested to be named as leader in PASOK by the end of the year.
