Euro 2024: The YouTuber who exposed UEFA, organizers, and security measures – Watch the video

27-year-old Marvin Wildhage proved at the premiere of Euro 2024 the incredible gaps that exist in the issues related to security

Newsroom June 18 05:42

For two weeks checks have been carried out at every border crossing of the country outside and inside Schengen, while the stadiums look like lobsters.

If someone compares this year’s event with that of the 2006 World Cup, they will think that everything is in a different country and a different era.
Even in the special accreditation centers for journalists, there are police representatives who scrutinize the information of media representatives.

In this light, it is even more surprising that a 27-year-old YouTuber, Marvin Wildhage, managed to infiltrate the interior of the Munich Arena, dressed in the uniform of the mascot of the competition, Albert, at Friday’s opening match (Germany-Scotland ).

By forging his accreditation and parking ticket in the stadium car park, and renting a van from Volkswagen, an official sponsor of the German Football Association, he managed to get into the stadium pitch unmolested! In fact, the even more infuriating thing is that he was not alone, but had an escort of two people!

Wildhage was eventually noticed by a UEFA employee, who found the young man’s general behavior suspicious.

The point is that even though the credential scanning machines were unable to recognize the names of the beneficiaries (since they didn’t exist) the security staff not only didn’t suspect there was a problem but waved them through, apparently because they thought that the mascot and her companions are… harmless.

However, from the moment the young YouTuber’s tour at the Munich stadium was revealed, a great debate began about the attribution of responsibilities.

The police claim that the issue of entering the stadiums is the responsibility of the organizer, that is UEFA, while the Bavarian interior minister was also placed on the issue, stating: “The incident must be thoroughly examined. The controls are subject to the competence of the organizing authority, with whom we are in constant communication and cooperation”.

At the same time, however, Wildhage is enjoying the fruits of his venture as the video where he narrates and shows step by step what he did has reached 1.5 million views.
