Hamas is awaiting Israel’s initial response within the next 24 hours for ceasefire proposals in Gaza, senior official Osama Hamdan informed AFP ahead of negotiations

"If the response is affirmative, we will discuss in depth, as this will initiate talks regarding their implementation, which, God willing, will proceed without delay," stated a senior official

Newsroom July 5 08:59

“We prefer not to delve into these ideas yet. We await a response, likely by today (Friday) or tomorrow morning (Saturday),” Hamdan emphasized.

“If the response is positive, we will delve into the details of these ideas, aiming for their swift implementation,” he added optimistically.

Hamdan clarified that the document sent to Israel this week does not contain new concrete proposals but includes “ideas aimed at overcoming” objections from Israeli opposition. He expressed hope that the US administration would firmly push Israel to accept these ideas, ultimately halting the military aggression in Gaza.

In related developments, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed Mossad chief David Barnea to travel to Qatar after Hamas announced its new proposals to end the conflict in Gaza, which began on October 7 with an attack by the Islamist movement on southern Israel.

The Mossad chief is expected to meet with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdelrahman Al-Thani in Doha today, according to a source familiar with the negotiations.

Hamdan also underscored Hamas’s robust military capabilities, which he asserted would enable them to sustain the conflict.

As per the latest updates, the Mossad chief has departed Qatar.
